THE SAFE DOORSTEP OF THE LARGEST CRUISE SHIP OF THE PERIOD DEMONSTRATED THE COORDINATION OF SERVICES AND PRIVATE PROFESSIONALS

Against the weather but with the support of all the public and private entities of the island, Mykonos managed to welcome the impressive cruise ship “Sun Princess” in the early hours of Friday, April 17. It was one of the largest arrivals of the season with approximately 4,350 passengers and 1,500 crew members who, thanks to the coordinated efforts of all those involved in the approach procedures, ensured the ship’s safe docking, despite the strong gusts of wind.
The Mykonos Port Fund, whose executives participated in the efforts, with an announcement by its President Ath. Kousathanas – Megas, publicly thanks the Mykonos Port Authority, which had the central operational role, as well as the Pilotage Service team from Syros, the local boatmen, the mooring men and the tugboat for their important supporting work. “Mykonos – said Mr. Megas – attaches great importance to the development of the cruise industry, which breathes life into the local economy and contributes to the promotion of our island’s reputation throughout the world. This is proven by the collaboration of all the stakeholders who give their best every year and carry out their duties with consistency and responsibility. Every approach is a joy and a boost for all our professionals, since it contributes to the expansion of the tourist season and gives thousands of visitors the opportunity to get to know our place. The people of Mykonos have both will and stubbornness and self-respect. And at every opportunity, they attest to the value and reputation of our place with their work.”
